CONCEPTUAL DATA MODEL

    Design


    Definition:
    An abstract model or representation of data for a particular domain, business enterprise, field of study, etc., independent of any specific software or information system. Usually expressed in terms of entities and relationships. See also logical data model.

    Design


    Definition:
    A data model that represents an abstract view of the real world.

    Definition:
    A canonical data model viewed at the highest level of abstraction.


    Example:
    Conceptual data modeling drives the initial broad specification within the canonical data model, and logical data modeling adds further detail within that same model.
